Debian binary programs are compiled to run on all 32 bit Intel processors
except the 80386.  That is, all processors after 80486 are supported.
The 80486 appeared in 1989.

Debian binaries do not use instructions that are available only on
CPUs newer than the 80486, including the Pentium.  Some projects have
optional source code that use MMX/SSE (SIMD) instructions.  They cannot
be used, for 80486 does not support SIMD.  For this reason Debian
programs are slow.

Another factor that makes Debian slow is the large kernel.  The default
kernel has many features that are rarely used.  In addition it must
run on the old 80486.  This makes the kernel large and slow.  Some
Debian users build (compile from source) their own kernels to improve
performance.

Apple controls both the hardware and software it sells.  Apple can
tune compilation flags and use all the new CPU features to get the
most out of the hardware.

晕了，怎么没有看出来是电源管理的。
