Wang Rong (王戎 东晋 234-305) was one of the Seven Wise Men of the Bamboo Grove. (竹林七贤). He did many strange things. I read the following episode in a Japanese book: In Wang Rong's yard there was a peach tree. The fruit tasted very good. He sold the peaches every summer in front of his house. People who bought them noticed holes, made by a sharp drill, in them. Wang Rong did not want people to plant the seeds and get the good fruit. So he destroyed the seed of every fruit he sold with a sharp drill. Original text http://chinese.dsturgeon.net/text.pl?node=91832&remap;=gb 世说新语 : 俭啬 王戎有好李,卖之, 恐人得其种,恒钻其核。 When we hear the above story, we think that Wang Rong went to an extreme. Software companies today do similar things, but people do not consider it abnormal. Computer software is a new industry and ordinary people do not understand it well. Some companies spread an idea, saying "we are specialists, we know about these things", before people started to think and discuss what is normal and what is abnormal. Maybe the above story will help people think what is normal and what is abnormal.
