我的电脑配置已经好老了,本来想用redhat9的,但是怕内核版本太旧新软件支持不会
太好,所以就没有用了.

不知道各位是用什么样的系统来进行开发的呢?

主要是开发web
所以想找一个运行起来不会慢的系统,linux系统我用过ubuntu跟redflag不过都是觉得那桌面系统比较慢.但我自己又不会配置这些系统.
因为只是开发web所对，我会选择一个ulipad，bulefish进行界面设计，还有一个浏览器就可以了，当然还有web服务器。

不知道那个发行版能附合我的要求呢？
麻烦各位介绍一下

之前用过ubuntu当时觉得那个安装很方便可惜对于自行编译的方式支持不是很够，

不知道Debian会不会也是这样

Debian may be a choice. 不过说真的，没有什么大的关系吧。随便找一个发行版，装
上你要用的软件，开发就可以了。

当然如果你打算开不发自由的软件，可能 NOVELL 和 Redhat (not FC) 是好的选择。
它们更商业些。

对开发人员来说gentoo还是很适合的，可以帮助了解系统，而且硬件系统比较老跑不动Gnome和KDE的话可以考虑一下fvwm

Ubuntu很不错的，python是第一语言，还内置了dive into python这本书呢。。
gentoo上python也是第一语言，gentoo上的软件管理基础本身就是python写的。

ubuntu编译软件之容易. apt-source就可以获取源代码,然后编译就好了. apt-get
build-dep xxx自动安装编译xxx所需的库文件. 

这是最自动的,最方便的了.

Linux下还是别用IDE来写程序了吧， VIM，Emacs这些比什么IDE都强。
